Our privacy policy.
Effective 4 August 2026 · Previous version 5 September 2024
The short version
We take privacy seriously. We collect basic information like your name and email when you use our custom apps, but we don't use or sell your data. You own it. Your customers' data, including names, addresses and order details, is handled securely by providers we chose for their encryption and security practices. You can ask us to access, update or delete your data at any time.
ClearlyApps, a DBA of COVA Consulting, LLC ("we," "our," "us"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we look after your personal data when you visit our website or use our services, and tells you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.
Information we collect
We collect the following when users create accounts within our custom apps:
- Personal information. Name and email address at a minimum, required during account creation. You decide what else you want to share.
- Customer data. In the course of using our custom apps, we collect names and email addresses from our clients' customers. You decide what else you want your customers to share.
We do not collect additional business information for customization purposes, and we do not gather app usage data such as frequency of use or feature access.
- Technical information. We do not use technical information about your visit, such as browser type or device information, for analytics, profiling or marketing. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability.
- Cookies and tracking. We do not use cookies or other tracking technologies to collect information about behaviour on our website.
Contacting us through this website
If you send us a message using the form on this site, we receive what you typed and the contact details you gave us, along with the date and time. That message reaches us by email and we use it only to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share it.
Data security
We take the security of your data seriously and have selected third-party providers that implement robust measures to protect it.
Multi-factor authentication
Our providers offer multi-factor authentication, adding a layer of protection by requiring a second method of identity verification.
Compliance standards
The providers we use adhere to industry-recognised security standards, including:
- SOC 2. Our infrastructure follows SOC 2 Type 2 standards, so sensitive customer data is managed under strict security protocols.
- HIPAA. We support the storage of Protected Health Information in line with HIPAA regulations.
Encryption
All customer data is encrypted both at rest and in transit by our providers. They use AES-256 encryption for stored data and Transport Layer Security for data transmitted over the internet.
Role-based access
Our providers implement role-based access control, so only authorised personnel can reach specific data.
Backups
Our providers perform daily backups of customer databases, so data can be recovered in the event of an incident.
Payment processing
We use Stripe to securely process in-app payments. No credit card information is stored on our providers' servers. Stripe is certified as a PCI Service Provider Level 1, the highest level of certification in the payments industry. You can read Stripe's security practices.
Vulnerability management
Your data is stored on third-party servers, and those providers work with industry experts to conduct regular security audits and penetration tests.
How we use your information
We do not use the personal data collected through our custom apps. Our clients fully own the data collected within their apps, including:
- Personal information. Name, email address and phone number provided during account creation.
- Customer data. Names, addresses, emails, photos and order data of customers using our clients' services.
Our clients are responsible for how they use their data, including for marketing. We do not use any of it for our own marketing, research or analytics.
How we share your information
We may share your personal data with:
- Service providers. We work with third-party providers for data storage management. A full list is available on request.
- Payment processors. We use QuickBooks to collect payments from our clients. You can read Intuit's privacy policy.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may disclose it if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities. All of the above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, which will not be shared with any third party.
Your data rights
- Access. You can ask for the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction. You can correct or update anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete your personal data at any time, and we will, unless we are required to keep some of it to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations. Residual copies may remain in our providers' backups until those are overwritten in the normal course.
- Opt out of marketing. Follow the unsubscribe instructions in our emails, or contact us directly.
- Portability. You can ask us to transfer your data to another provider, in a commonly used and transferable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@clearlyapps.com. We will respond promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements or operations. Any changes will be posted on this page, and we will notify you by email or a prominent notice on our website before they take effect.
